Beaches in Qatar: Where to Go and How to Get There
A guide to Qatar's public beaches, from family-friendly spots near Doha to remote desert beaches, with approximate travel times from the city.

Qatar's coastline ranges from calm, family-friendly beaches close to Doha to remote desert beaches that need a 4x4 to reach. This guide organizes the public beaches that Qatar Tourism's own site features, with approximate distances from Doha. We read Qatar Tourism's public beaches page in September 2026, and travel times are as reported there, so allow extra time for traffic.

Before you go
- Qatar Tourism reports that several public beaches are currently undergoing enhancement projects. Check the beach's own listing or social channels for current access before a long drive.
- The Inland Sea and Zekreet beach need a 4x4 and, for the Inland Sea, a professional driver. Do not attempt these in a regular car.
- Bring shade, water, and sun protection. Much of the year, midday heat makes an early morning or late afternoon visit far more comfortable.
- For family-oriented parks rather than beaches, see our guide to family parks in Qatar.
If you are specifically after a family beach close to the city rather than the more remote spots further down this list, Al Wakrah and Simaisma are the two reported closest and most family-friendly options.
What we could not verify
- Current facilities, lifeguard coverage, or entry restrictions at any individual beach.
- Whether any enhancement work is currently affecting access at a specific beach.
- Parking availability.
