Commercial Registration (CR) Renewal in Qatar: Steps, Fees and Late Renewal
Qatar companies renew their commercial registration online through the Single Window. The steps, the reported fees per activity and branch, what happens if you renew late, and what we could not check.

A lapsed CR can stop a company from renewing its trade license, work permits and other services, so renewal dates matter. We could not open the official Single Window pages, so this guide is built from reports by Qatar Living and Mondaq, and we say where we are relying on them. Check the portal before you pay.
What the renewal covers
Qatar Living reports that the Single Window's Comprehensive Renewal service lets a company renew its CR, its trade license and its Chamber membership in one online transaction, pay the fees on the portal and download the renewed certificates. Mondaq, a law-firm news site, reported on 24 July 2024 that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, with the Ministry of Interior, had announced an automatic service for the establishment registration. Once the license and CR are renewed, the company can get the updated establishment registration on the Single Window and see it in the Metrash application.

The renewal steps
- Sign in to the Single Window with a valid Tawtheeq account and a QID.
- Choose Comprehensive Renewal.
- Enter the establishment details.
- Upload the attachments the system asks for. These vary by company.
- Review the data and confirm it is correct.
- Approve the application.
- Pay the fees online and download the renewed CR.
The same report says the portal gives an approximate processing time of one day for Comprehensive Renewal, and that regulated activities or cases needing outside approval can take longer.
Reported fees
| Item | Reported fee |
|---|---|
| CR renewal, main activity | QR 500 a year |
| Each additional activity | QR 300 a year |
| Each branch CR | QR 100 a year |
| Commercial permit, standard | QR 500 |
| Commercial permit, home | QR 300 |
| Qatar Chamber fees | QR 500 to QR 10,000, depending on capital and structure |
Qatar Living also reports that the Ministry cut many business fees, some by more than 90 percent, under Ministerial Decision No. 60 of 2024. Multi-year renewals multiply the yearly figures. These numbers are reported, not read from the portal or the decision, so confirm them on the Single Window before you pay.
What happens if you renew late
Qatar Living reports that the authority may delete a CR entry 90 days after notifying the person concerned if it is still not renewed, and that a late renewal may still be possible, with fees collected for the full period starting from the date the registration expired. We could not confirm the legal basis or the exact notice rules on an official page. If your CR has expired, contact the Ministry or use the Single Window message centre as soon as you can.
Common reasons a renewal is rejected
A Qatar Living checklist lists the following as frequent causes: an expired or unattested tenancy contract, an expired Qatar ID for the person who signs, company details that differ between documents, activities that no longer match their approvals, an outdated computer card or establishment ID, and unpaid fees or fines. Check these before you apply.
Before you renew
- Check which activities you really use. Each extra activity adds a yearly fee, according to the reports above.
- Make sure the tenancy contract is valid and attested for the trade license.
- Make sure the signatory's Qatar ID is valid.
- Read our business setup guide for the wider picture, and our guide to checking a company in Qatar if you deal with other firms.
What we could not verify
- The fees and the Ministerial Decision No. 60 of 2024 on the official Single Window or the decision text. The portal gave a certificate error to our tools.
- The process steps, which come from Qatar Living, and whether they changed after the 2024 service changes.
- The legal rules for deleting a CR after 90 days and how late fees are charged.
- How the automatic establishment registration service works for a given company, and whether any opt-out exists. The Mondaq report gave no detail on this.
- Free zone companies, such as those in the Qatar Financial Centre, which have their own renewal processes.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I renew a commercial registration in Qatar?
Reports say renewal is done online through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's Single Window with a Tawtheeq account and a QID, using the Comprehensive Renewal service. Check the portal itself for the current steps.
How much does CR renewal cost in Qatar?
Qatar Living reports QR 500 a year for the main activity, QR 300 for each additional activity and QR 100 for each branch, after fee cuts under Ministerial Decision No. 60 of 2024. We could not confirm these on the portal.
What happens if I renew my CR late?
Qatar Living reports that late renewal may still be possible, with fees charged from the expiry date, and that the authority may delete an unrenewed CR 90 days after notifying the owner. Confirm the rules with the Ministry.
Is the CR the same as the trade license?
No. A Qatar Living guide describes the CR as the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's record of the company and the trade license as the municipality's permit for the premises. The Comprehensive Renewal service is reported to renew both together.
