Qatar Home Internet Not Working? Fixes and Who to Contact
Quick fixes for home internet that has stopped or slowed, how to report a fault, when the CRA lets you escalate, and what outage compensation Ooredoo's terms actually cover.

When home internet stops, the quickest fixes are the boring ones, and most people skip them. This guide starts with those, then explains how to report a fault, how the regulator's escalation rules apply to home internet, and what outage compensation Ooredoo's terms cover. The steps come from Vodafone Qatar's home internet support page, the CRA's complaints page, and Ooredoo's terms, read in September 2026. We say when something applies to one provider only.
Try these first
Vodafone Qatar's home internet support page lists these steps. They are simple, and similar steps are commonly useful with other providers, but that part is our analysis.
- Restart your router. Vodafone says rebooting helps clear temporary memory issues.
- Check all cable connections. Loose or partly connected cables can interrupt the signal, so make sure every cable is plugged in securely.
- Turn off any VPN before running a speed test, because Vodafone says encryption can reduce connection quality.
- Make sure your device is connected to your own provider's router, then run a speed test.
- Pause large downloads, cloud backups, and software updates on other devices, since background activity can slow the connection.
- Move the router into an open area. Vodafone lists walls, closed doors, metal objects, and enclosed spaces as common causes of poor coverage.
- If you use mesh units, keep them powered on to avoid coverage gaps.
Is it your line or the whole area?
This is our analysis. Check whether other devices and other people in your building have the same problem, and check your provider's app or social channels for a reported outage. A problem on one device points to that device. A problem on every device points to your router or line, and a problem for many customers points to a wider fault.
Report the fault
- Vodafone GigaHome customers: Vodafone's terms list 111 for GigaHome customers, and its support page lists 111 when speeds stay slow, WiFi is weak everywhere, or you want a mesh installation. The page also lists WhatsApp on +974 7110 7110 for GigaHome plan inquiries.
- Ooredoo customers: Ooredoo's terms say complaints should go through its official Customer Care channels. Use the number in your Ooredoo app or on its website.
- Always ask for a reference number, and write down the date, time, and the name of the person you spoke to.
Neither page we read gives a time by which a technician must arrive, so we cannot quote one. Ask the agent for the expected date and record it.
When you can go to the CRA
The Communications Regulatory Authority's complaints page lists when you can escalate. For home internet, these are the most relevant:
- A problem with a fixed line service connection that stays unresolved for 72 hours after your first complaint to the provider.
- A new fixed line service that was not delivered within 10 working days after you submitted the application, and the complaint stays unresolved for 48 hours.
- Any other complaint that remains open for 30 days, or a case the provider closed when you were not satisfied with the solution.
- A provider that refused to accept your complaint.
The CRA's channels are the 24/7 hotline 103, or +974 4406 9938 from abroad, the email [email protected], its online form, its Arsel app, and its social accounts. It asks for your contact details, the affected service number, your ID card number, the provider's complaint reference number, and supporting documents. Our guide to telecom complaints and the CRA explains the full route.
What outage compensation covers
Ooredoo's terms include a compensation clause, and it is narrower than many people expect. It defines a Red Fault as a network fault impacting 20 percent or more of the fixed customer base or mobile traffic. Compensation applies when such a fault cannot be recovered within 4 hours, and it excludes planned network outages, events outside Ooredoo's control, and force majeure. The amount is proportionate to, but not more than, 10 percent of the monthly rental for postpaid services, and Ooredoo may give it as a bill reduction or other benefit.
In our reading, a fault that affects only your home line does not meet that definition, so you should not count on compensation from that clause for a single-home outage. Ask your provider directly whether a credit is possible. We did not find Vodafone's equivalent clause.
What to keep as evidence
- The dates and times of each outage, and how long it lasted.
- Speed test screenshots taken with the VPN off.
- Every complaint reference number and who you spoke to.
- Your bill and contract, in case you need to ask for a credit.
Real problems people run into
- Speeds are much lower than I pay for. We found no official speed guarantee. Test with the VPN off, near the router, and keep the results before you complain.
- It keeps dropping in the evening. Keep a log of times, and ask the provider whether the area is congested.
- The provider says everything looks fine. Ask for the test results in writing, and ask for a technician visit.
- I applied for a new line and nothing happened. Count 10 working days from the application, then follow the CRA route above.
- I want a credit on my bill. Ask in writing, and see our guide to disputing a bill.
If your mobile line is also failing, see our guide to a SIM that is not working.
What we could not verify
- Any official technician response time or speed guarantee.
- Ooredoo's home internet support steps and phone number, which we did not read.
- Vodafone's outage compensation terms.
- Whether the 72 hour CRA rule applies to every home internet product, since the CRA page refers to fixed line services.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my home internet not working in Qatar?
Common causes are a router that needs a restart, loose cables, a VPN affecting speed tests, poor router placement, or a wider fault. Start with the quick fixes, then report a fault to your provider.
Who do I call to report a home internet fault?
Vodafone's terms list 111 for GigaHome customers. Ooredoo says to use its official Customer Care channels. Ask for a reference number in either case.
When can I complain to the CRA about home internet?
The CRA lists 72 hours of an unresolved fixed line connection problem, or a new fixed line not delivered within 10 working days and unresolved for 48 hours. Other complaints can go to the CRA after 30 days, or if the provider closed the case and you were not satisfied.
Do I get compensation for an internet outage?
Ooredoo's terms cover only a Red Fault, defined as a fault impacting 20 percent or more of the fixed customer base or mobile traffic and not recovered within 4 hours, with compensation capped at 10 percent of monthly rental. A single-home outage is unlikely to qualify, so ask your provider directly.
Is there a guaranteed technician response time?
We found none on the pages we read. Ask the agent for the expected date and record it.
What does the CRA need from me?
Your contact details, the affected service number, your ID card number, the provider's complaint reference number, and supporting documents such as bills or receipts.
