Fahes Inspection in Qatar: How to Book, Get Your Report and What Re-Inspection Costs
Quick answer
Book a Fahes inspection through the WOQOD app (FAHES icon, Request new FAHES inspection), pay by card, then visit any Fahes station with your registration card. Fahes says the report arrives as an SMS link to a printable Arabic or English report, and a pass is valid for 30 days to finish renewal. The first re-inspection is free, and the second is charged at the full rate.

Fahes is the company that carries out the periodic vehicle inspection that Qatar requires before you renew a car's registration. People search for it in many forms: how to get the report, whether you need an appointment and what happens after a fail. The answers on the web are patchy, so this guide is built from Fahes's own frequently asked questions page, read on 27 October 2026, and our guides on registration and fines. Fahes's station list, hours and current fee table are on separate pages that we could not read, so we say where that is the case. It is general information.

When is a Fahes inspection due?

Fahes says a car is due once a year, starting when it is 3 years old, at the same time as registration renewal. The date is on your registration card (Istimara). Fahes describes itself as the only Traffic Department-authorized periodic vehicle inspection company in Qatar. See Istimara renewal problems and the Istimara renewal grace period for what happens if the date passes.

How to book a Fahes inspection

1. Open the WOQOD app on iOS or Android and tap the FAHES icon.

2. Choose Request new FAHES inspection.

3. Enter your Qatari ID, mobile number, car plate number, plate type and email.

4. Enter the mobile number that should receive the report.

5. Pay by card.

After payment you get a receipt by email and an SMS telling you to visit any Fahes station near you. Bring your registration card or a copy.

Do you need an appointment, or can you walk in?

Fahes says a reservation is required at three stations: Wadi Al Banat, Mesaimeer and Al Wakra. It does not say other stations need one. The page does not explicitly address walk-ins beyond telling you to visit a station after paying, so the honest answer to "Fahes inspection without appointment" is that you pay first in the app and then go, and a reservation is needed at those three stations. Fahes advises avoiding 8 am to 12 pm, which is the busy time. An inspection takes about 10 minutes for a car in good condition.

What to bring

  • The registration card (Istimara), or a Traffic Department document with the vehicle details, or a clear photocopy of both sides of the card.
  • If the card is lost, Fahes can still register the vehicle using one of the alternatives above.
  • A car that is not registered in Qatar needs its customs and import documents.

How much does it cost?

The FAQ page does not list the inspection fee and links to a separate fee page we could not read. Qatar Living guides from July and August 2026 reported about QAR 150 for a private car, so treat that as reported and confirm in the app before you pay. Re-inspection is covered below. Fahes also notes a QAR 250 charge for every re-inspection of a water tanker.

Where do you get the Fahes report?

Fahes sends an SMS with a link to a printable inspection report, in Arabic or English, to the mobile number you gave when booking. That link is the report. We did not find a public page where you can look up a report by plate number, so if you cannot find the SMS, check the number you entered in the app, or contact Fahes. Keep the SMS, since the report is valid for 30 days to complete Traffic Department approval.

What happens after a pass?

You receive an SMS telling you to renew your registration, your insurance and your registration certificate. Fahes still names Metrash2 in that message, but the Ministry of Interior switched that app off in March 2025, so use the current Metrash app or the MOI portal. You need valid insurance and no unpaid fines to complete renewal. See car insurance in Qatar and checking and paying traffic fines.

What happens after a fail?

The SMS lists the defects. Correct them and return for re-inspection within the 30 day cycle. Fahes says the first re-inspection is free, the second is charged at the full normal rate, and after that payments alternate, one paid and one free, within the cycle that starts at the first paid main inspection. The page words the cycle two ways: 30 days after the first paid main inspection, and 30 days from the inspection date. If the car has not passed within the cycle, a new paid main inspection starts and all items that passed before are inspected again. Read what to do after a failed Fahes inspection.

What does Fahes check?

Fahes checks approved testable items against a minimum standard, with the stated aims of reducing deaths and injuries from component defects, reducing environmental impact and increasing legally compliant vehicles. Inspectors mark defective parts under the chassis with yellow paint, and you can opt out by telling staff in the lane before the inspection starts. They may stop early for safety reasons such as fuel leaks, fire risk, dangerous overheating, tire defects or a risk of sudden loss of control.

Modified cars and failed cars

Fundamental changes to a vehicle need Traffic Department approval, and replacement parts that equal or exceed the manufacturer's specification are acceptable if approved. See window tint and car modifications. Fahes strongly advises against driving a car with a major safety, legal or environmental defect, and says doing so may be dangerous or illegal and may invalidate insurance.

A simple plan

1. Check the due date on your Istimara and book a few days before, not the last day, so the 30 day report window works for you.

2. Fix obvious problems first: lights, tires, brakes and fluid leaks.

3. Book in the WOQOD app and go outside the 8 am to 12 pm rush.

4. Keep the report SMS, then renew registration and insurance. For the whole car cycle, see our guide to owning and driving a car in Qatar.

What we could not verify

  • The current inspection fee, which is on a page we could not read.
  • Station locations and opening hours.
  • Whether any station accepts a car without a prepaid booking.
  • A public report lookup by plate number.
