Qatar Traffic Fines: How to Check and Pay Them Online
How to check what you owe using just your QID or plate number, pay in minutes from your phone, and avoid the early-payment discount window closing on you.

Traffic fines are easy to lose track of, and people often search for a quick check by plate number or QID. This guide was rebuilt in September 2026 from Hukoomi's two Ministry of Interior services, one for inquiring and one for viewing and paying. We mark the points that come from unofficial sources.
Check fines without logging in
Hukoomi's Inquire About Traffic Violations service lets you check violations registered on vehicles. It is free. Its steps are:
1. To inquire by vehicle, enter the plate number and choose the vehicle type.
2. To inquire by QID, open the ID Number tab and enter your ID number.
3. To inquire by company, open the Company ID Number tab and enter the company ID.
4. Enter the verification code and click Submit.
This tells you whether any violations exist. It does not say how much you owe, so use the next service for details.
View details and pay
Hukoomi's View and Pay Traffic Violations service says motorists can view and pay their violations. The steps are:
1. Log in with your smartcard to the Ministry of Interior e-services portal.
2. Click Traffic Services, then Traffic Violations and Accidents, then Traffic Violations.
3. Click Settlement of Violations and enter your ID, plate number, or establishment ID.
4. Review the list. Each violation shows the date and time, location, description, and amount due.
5. Complete the payment.
Hukoomi says the fee depends on the violation. It adds that you can pay in person at an MOI collection office or the Traffic Department, and that motorists can check and pay through the Metrash mobile app.
Which route should you use?
This is our own view. If you only want to know whether a fine exists, the free inquiry is quickest and needs no login. If you want the amounts and want to pay, use Metrash or the e-services portal. Pay in person if you prefer a receipt at a counter or cannot log in.
Searching by plate or by QID
Searching by plate number shows violations registered against that vehicle. Searching by QID shows records tied to your ID. We did not confirm from the pages how the two searches overlap, for example for a car registered to someone else, so if you drive a shared or rented vehicle, check the plate as well. For rentals, see our guide to car rental in Qatar on asking how fines are handled.
Other things you may have read
We could not confirm these points on the official pages, so treat them as unverified.
- Early payment discounts of up to 50 percent. Some fines and periods may have had them, but they are not on the Hukoomi pages, so check the amount shown for your own fine.
- Payment at petrol stations or partner banks. Hukoomi names only the e-services portal, Metrash, an MOI collection office, and the Traffic Department.
- The 14-day objection window. It is commonly reported, and our guide to disputing a traffic fine treats it that way, so check the deadline shown for your own violation.
What happens if you do not pay
We found no official statement of a payment deadline or of what an unpaid fine blocks. Some guides say unpaid fines block vehicle registration renewal, but the Hukoomi renewal and fines pages we read do not say so, as our guide to vehicle registration renewal problems explains. Fines can also matter when you leave, so check for a travel ban with our guide to the exit permit and travel ban check. Serious violations also add points to your license. See our guide to the traffic points system.
If you think a fine is wrong
See our guide to disputing a wrong traffic fine, which explains the evidence to collect. If you are also sorting out your license, see our guide to getting a driving license in Qatar.
Common mistakes
- Paying before you check the details of each violation.
- Checking only by QID when the car is registered to someone else.
- Leaving fines until you renew your registration or travel.
- Relying on a discount or a payment location that the official pages do not list.
What we could not verify
- Whether early payment discounts currently apply.
- Whether fines can be paid at petrol stations or partner banks.
- The deadline to object to a fine.
- Whether unpaid fines block registration renewal or travel.
- How the QID and plate searches overlap for vehicles registered to someone else.
