Al-Adeed Anonymous Reporting in Qatar: How to Report on Metrash2
How the Ministry of Interior's Al-Adeed service on Metrash2 works, what it covers, how it differs from a formal criminal complaint, and what we could not confirm about follow-up.

Sometimes you see something in Qatar that worries you, but you do not want your name attached to it, or it is not clearly a crime. Al-Adeed is the Ministry of Interior's channel for that kind of report.
This guide uses a DohaGuides article (reviewed January 2024), a Peninsula report from 21 August 2023, and a search summary of a Peninsula guide to criminal complaints on Metrash2 (2020). We could not confirm today's menu wording or what happens after a report is sent. It is general information, not legal advice. If someone is in danger now, call the emergency number instead of using an app.
What can you report through Al-Adeed?
The Peninsula and DohaGuides both list the same categories: public morals, negative trends, violations in tourist areas, administrative corruption, and threats against the person reporting. The Ministry calls it preventive security, meaning it is meant to catch problems before they grow.
How to send an Al-Adeed report
1. Open Metrash2. You need a valid Qatar ID, a registered mobile number and a smartphone.
2. Tap "Communicate with Us."
3. Choose "Preventive Security."
4. Open "Al-Adeed Service Reporting."
5. Describe what you saw as exactly as you can: where, when and what happened.
6. Attach a photo or other media if it supports the report. This is optional.
7. Add any extra comments and submit.
Is it really anonymous?
The Peninsula says reports can be filed anonymously and the Ministry says they are confidential and do not reveal the complainant's identity. DohaGuides says the identity remains undisclosed. Neither explains how that works technically, and you still log in to Metrash2 with your Qatar ID. Read the Ministry's statement as a promise of confidentiality, not as a technical guarantee, and do not include details in the text that identify you.
Al-Adeed or a police report?
They do different jobs. A criminal complaint through Metrash2 is a formal route, and a 2020 Peninsula guide says it needs a signed written copy attached, after which the security department contacts the complainant. Al-Adeed is for tips and concerns. If you were the victim of a crime, or want an official case opened, read how to file a police report in Qatar.
Other cases have their own routes. If someone is spreading rumors or insults about you online, see our guide to online insults and fake news. For photos taken without permission, see photographing people in Qatar.
Think before you report
A report that targets a person falsely can create problems for you. Report what you saw, not what you suspect, and keep the details factual. Do not use the service to settle a personal quarrel.
What we could not verify
- When the service launched.
- Whether you receive a reply or reference number.
- How reports are assessed.
- Whether the menu wording is unchanged in the latest Metrash2 version.
