Cannot Get a Qatar Health Center Appointment? What to Do
Why a PHCC appointment request fails, what the official rules say about which clinics you can book directly, and how to use 107, referrals, and complaints when it keeps failing.

Not being able to book a health center appointment is frustrating, and the cause is often a rule you cannot see in the app. This guide explains the official PHCC rules we could verify, the checks that fix most cases, and where to escalate. It uses PHCC pages we read in September 2026. It does not give waiting times, because we found no official ones.
Why an appointment request fails
PHCC's Nar'aakom page says the Manage My Appointments service lets you request new appointments for yourself or your dependents from a list of clinics that are available for direct booking. It also says new appointment requests are only available for a limited number of clinics or services, and that for other services your family physician can refer you based on your health condition. That is the most common surprise: the service you want may not be bookable directly at all.
Check this first
- Your login. PHCC says you need an account with Qatar's National Authentication System, Tawtheeq, to use the Nar'aakom app. If you cannot sign in, see our guide to Hukoomi and Tawtheeq registration problems.
- Who can use it. PHCC says residents with a Qatar ID and people over 18 can access the app. Dependents under 18 need a valid Qatar ID and can be added to your account.
- Your health card. This is our analysis. An expired or missing registration is a likely reason for a refused non-urgent request. See our guide to renewing an expired health card.
- Your assigned health center and family physician. PHCC lists Change My Health Center and Change My Family Physician as e-services. If you moved, update them, since being assigned to the wrong center can complicate booking.
- Whether the service is bookable directly. If it is not, book a family physician appointment first and ask for a referral.
Step by step
- Sign in to Nar'aakom with Tawtheeq and open Manage My Appointments.
- Choose the clinic or service from the list of direct booking options.
- Submit the request, and keep the reference or confirmation you receive.
- Watch the request status. PHCC says you can cancel a new request from the app only while the status shows Request Received.
- For a family physician appointment, PHCC says the 107 team will call to confirm it, and may discuss a video consultation if your health center offers one.
Urgent, same day, or emergency
PHCC's page says that in an emergency you should call 999, and for urgent or same day appointment requests you should call 107. Use 107 from inside Qatar. PHCC's contact page also lists two international numbers, +974 4406 6466 and +974 4406 9917, so try both if one does not connect.
If it keeps failing
- Call 107. PHCC says its Booking and Appointment Division manages booking at all health centers and through the 107 helpline, including appointment information, reminders, and complaints or suggestions.
- Ask your health center about a referral if the service is not directly bookable. PHCC has a Referral Management Office that tracks e-referrals.
- Email [email protected], PHCC's general inquiries address, with your name, Qatar ID number, health center, and what you tried.
- Use the Feedback, Complaint, Ethical Concerns, and Incidents link that appears at the bottom of PHCC's pages. We could not open its form, so we cannot describe its steps.
Which channel to use
This is our analysis, based on the PHCC rules above.
- The app: best for routine requests in the clinics listed for direct booking, and for rescheduling or canceling a new request.
- The 107 line: best when the app shows nothing suitable, when you need same day care, or when you need to confirm a family physician appointment.
- Your health center: best for health card, address, or assigned center problems, and for asking your family physician about a referral.
- Email or the complaint link: best for repeated failures, when you want a written record.
What to say when you call 107
Say who needs the appointment and their age, the service you need, whether it is urgent, and what you already tried. Ask whether the service can be booked directly or needs a referral, and if it needs a referral, ask who should request it. Ask for a reference for the call. Write down the date, time, and the name of the person you spoke to.
If the appointment is for a child
PHCC says dependents under 18 with a valid Qatar ID can be added to a parent's account, and that they are disabled automatically at 18, when they should create their own account. If a child's booking fails, check that the child was added and that their Qatar ID is valid. See our guide to the Qatar ID if it has expired.
What to have ready
- Your Qatar ID number, health card status, and assigned health center.
- The service you need and the dates you tried.
- Screenshots of any error, with the date and time visible.
Real problems people run into
- I need the medical examination for a residence permit. See our guide to Medical Commission appointment problems.
- The app shows no clinic for what I need. It is probably not directly bookable. Ask for a family physician appointment and a referral.
- I cannot log in. Fix the Tawtheeq account first. See our registration guide.
- I need to be seen today. Call 107, and do not wait for an app slot. Call 999 for an emergency.
- I booked and want to cancel. PHCC says cancel a new request only while it shows Request Received. Otherwise, call 107.
- My child's appointment will not book. PHCC says dependents under 18 need a valid Qatar ID and must be added to your account.
For how the wider system works, including private options, see our guide to healthcare in Qatar.
What we could not verify
- Waiting times for any clinic or service. We found no official figures.
- The steps of PHCC's complaint form.
- How specialist appointments at hospitals outside PHCC are booked, since we only checked PHCC pages.
- Which of PHCC's two international numbers is preferred.
