Cloud Computing Jobs in Qatar in 2026: Roles, Skills, and Certifications
The cloud and DevOps roles employers in Qatar hire for in 2026, why local cloud regions matter, and the skills and certifications listings ask for.

Cloud is where several trends meet in Qatar: government digital plans, data that must stay in the country, and new AI workloads. This guide explains which cloud roles show up in listings, what is driving them, and what to learn. Numbers are dated and linked, and we flag where we could not find evidence.
For the wider market, see our guide to the most in-demand IT jobs in Qatar. For related careers, see cybersecurity jobs in Qatar and AI jobs in Qatar.
Why cloud hiring is growing in Qatar
Global providers now run regions inside Qatar. Microsoft opened its first Qatar region in August 2022, and trade press reported it is hosted at a Meeza data center in the Qatar Science and Technology Park, per Data Center Dynamics. Google Cloud opened its Doha region in May 2023, working with the Qatar Free Zones Authority, and reports say it has three availability zones.
Local providers are moving too. In February 2026, Ooredoo announced with Oracle that it will deliver sovereign cloud and AI services from its own data centers in Qatar. In July 2025, Ooredoo launched sovereign AI cloud services on NVIDIA GPUs, reported by RCR Wireless. Sovereign cloud means data and operations stay in the country.
National plans add demand. Qatar's Digital Agenda 2030, launched February 27, 2024, targets about 26,000 job opportunities by 2030. And the Hays GCC Salary Guide 2026 found that 90 percent of organizations across the GCC reported skills gaps in 2025.
What cloud jobs exist in Qatar?
Glassdoor showed 50 cloud engineer listings in Doha in January 2026, 49 cloud architect listings in Doha in June 2026, 80 AWS engineer listings in Qatar in April 2026, and 59 security architect listings in May 2026. Employers shown for cloud roles included Qatar Airways, Mannai, QatarEnergy, and MSI. These are dated snapshots, and the counts change with the search words.
Cloud engineer
Cloud engineers build and run cloud infrastructure. Listings we saw asked for secure, scalable, highly available environments on Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, and some named AWS.
Cloud architect
Architects design the overall cloud setup for an organization. These roles are senior. Listings we saw for advanced roles asked for five or more years of experience.
DevOps and platform engineer
DevOps engineers automate how software is built and released. Senior listings we saw named Kubernetes, Docker, Red Hat OpenShift, and CI/CD tools. Bayt lists junior, senior, and lead DevOps roles in Qatar.
Cloud security engineer
These engineers secure cloud and hybrid networks. One Bayt listing we saw was for a senior cloud network security engineer who designs secure architectures across on-premises and cloud systems. See our guide to cybersecurity jobs in Qatar for that path.
Skills and certifications
Start with one platform. Common entry certifications are AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, and the Google Cloud Associate Cloud Engineer. Then move to associate-level certifications once you have hands-on practice. The Certified Kubernetes Administrator is a widely recognized hands-on exam for container skills. Vendors replace exams often, so check current lists first.
Beyond certifications, learn Linux, networking, Git, and scripting, then infrastructure as code and CI/CD. Our guide to IT skills in demand in Qatar covers the wider set.
Choosing your first cloud certification
This is our analysis. Pick the platform your target employers use, then work up in steps. Begin with a fundamentals exam to learn the vocabulary. Move to an associate-level exam once you have built something real. Add a specialty, such as security, networking, or Kubernetes, when your role calls for it. Do not collect certifications across all three platforms before you have deep skills on one. Employers in listings we saw named specific platforms and tools, so match those.
Mistakes to avoid
- Studying only for the exam. Build the thing the exam describes.
- Ignoring security. Cloud mistakes often come from loose access settings, and employers notice when you understand this.
- Skipping the basics. Linux, networking, and scripting make every cloud skill easier.
How cloud, DevOps, and platform roles differ
This is our analysis. The titles overlap, and employers use them differently. A cloud engineer usually builds and runs the cloud environment: networks, servers, storage, and access. A DevOps engineer focuses on the path from code to production, meaning automated builds, tests, and releases. A platform engineer builds shared tools that other developers use. A cloud architect decides how the whole design fits together. Read the responsibilities in each listing, not only the title.
What cloud listings ask for
These examples come from listing wording on Glassdoor and Bayt in 2026. They are examples, not a survey.
- Designing and managing secure, scalable, highly available cloud environments on Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.
- In one QatarEnergy listing, 10 or more years of hands-on work as a cloud administrator on platforms such as Azure and Google Cloud.
- For advanced roles, five or more years with containers, using Kubernetes, Docker, and Red Hat OpenShift, plus DevOps, CI/CD, and software development lifecycle tools.
- In one cloud engineer role, supporting DevOps, automation, and cloud-native applications.
- For hybrid roles, designing secure network architecture across on-premises and cloud systems.
Which employers hire cloud talent
Employers shown in Glassdoor's cloud searches included Management Solutions International (MSI), Qatar Airways, Mannai Corporation, QatarEnergy, UBS, ProgressSoft, and Codvo.ai. Telecoms and government are building cloud too, such as Ooredoo and the national digital agenda led by MCIT. This is a list of examples from search results, not a full survey, so check each employer's official careers page.
How to build cloud experience without a cloud job
This is our analysis. Build small projects on one platform. Deploy a simple app, put it behind a load balancer, add monitoring, and rebuild it with code instead of clicking through screens. Then automate the deployment so it runs whenever you change the code. Write down what you built and what went wrong, because the problems you solved are what interviewers want to hear about. Add one entry certification, and keep the project on GitHub. Cloud skills are easy to prove because you can show a working system.
What to know before applying from abroad
Your work visa is sponsored by your employer, so an offer comes first. Foreign degrees must be attested, and it helps to start early. Our guide to getting an IT job in Qatar covers the steps, including how to verify a job offer. Some roles may also be reserved for Qatari nationals under Law No. 12 of 2024, per Crowell & Moring, so ask if a listing looks restricted.
Why sovereign cloud matters for your career
This is our analysis. Data residency rules and government cloud needs mean employers want people who understand local hosting options, not only one global platform. Knowing how to work across a global cloud and a local sovereign cloud is a useful edge. We found no data on how many listings ask for it yet.
A realistic career path
Many people start in IT support or systems administration, move to cloud engineer, then specialize as an architect, DevOps or platform engineer, or cloud security engineer. Because senior listings ask for many years, build experience in stages and use projects to show skills.
Salary guidance
Qatar Living's July 2026 guide lists DevOps and cloud engineer pay at QAR 20,000 to 35,000 a month, all-in, and calls it guidance, not a guarantee. Ask whether an offer is basic or all-in.
Where to search
Use job boards and employer career pages. Our guide to getting an IT job in Qatar lists the main boards, explains degree attestation, and shows how to spot fake offers.
Real problems people run into
- Listings ask for five or more years. Build experience through support or admin roles, and add projects. If you are a new graduate, see our guide to IT jobs in Qatar for freshers.
- I am a developer moving toward DevOps. Start from what you know, then add deployment and automation. Our guide to software developer jobs in Qatar covers the developer side.
- I do not know which cloud to learn. Read local listings for your target role, and start with the platform that appears most.
- I have certifications but no hands-on work. Build a small project, such as deploying an app with an automated pipeline, and describe it on your CV.
- The employer uses a platform I do not know. Core ideas carry across platforms. Show that you learned one well, and explain how you would learn the other.
- I keep failing certification exams. Practice on a real account, not only with question banks. Hands-on work is what the exams and interviews test.
Next steps
Pick one platform, earn one entry certification, and deploy one working project. Then read five current listings and close the gaps.
