10 Most In-Demand IT Jobs in Qatar in 2026

The IT roles Qatar employers are hiring for in 2026, why demand is rising, and how to tell which role fits your background.

10 Most In-Demand IT Jobs in Qatar in 2026
Quick answer
The most in-demand IT jobs in Qatar in 2026 are IT support and systems administrators, software developers, data engineers, IT managers, network engineers, ERP specialists, and business analysts. The fastest-growing are cloud and DevOps engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and AI engineers. Demand is driven by national digital plans, new cloud and AI infrastructure, and employers upgrading their systems.

If you are thinking about a tech career in Qatar, the useful question is not only which job pays the most. It is which roles employers are really hiring for, and which ones are growing. This guide answers both. It uses named sources, gives the date for every number, and tells you where the evidence is thin, so you can judge it yourself.

Why IT hiring is growing in Qatar

Qatar's Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) launched its Digital Agenda 2030 on February 27, 2024. The plan aims to create about 26,000 job opportunities by 2030 and an economic ripple effect of nearly QR 40 billion, according to the Qatar News Agency.

In October 2025, an MCIT official said the ministry's Scale Now program aims to double the number of ICT jobs by 2030 and to have 10 percent of the workforce with advanced ICT skills, as reported by The Peninsula. The report does not say how many ICT jobs exist today, so treat "double" as a goal, not a measured trend.

Investment is also arriving in concrete form. Microsoft opened its first Qatar cloud region in August 2022, and Google Cloud launched a Doha region in May 2023. In December 2025, Qatar launched Qai, a national AI company under the Qatar Investment Authority. A July 2026 U.S. Commerce Department report says the authority signed a $20 billion partnership with Brookfield to form it.

Security is a priority too. Qatar's National Cyber Security Agency launched its 2024-2030 National Cyber Security Strategy in September 2024. One of its five pillars is building a qualified cybersecurity workforce.

Recruiters see the same pressure across the Gulf. The Hays GCC Salary Guide 2026 surveyed more than 1,600 employers and professionals. It found that 66 percent of employers increased headcount in 2025 and 90 percent of organizations reported skills gaps. Note that this survey covers the whole GCC, not Qatar alone.

How we chose these 10 roles

No official Qatar source publishes IT job demand by job title. So we used three signals: the national priorities above, recruiter reports for the Gulf, and the number of listings visible on Glassdoor's Qatar pages. Listing counts change daily and depend on the exact search words. For example, Glassdoor showed 90 "software developer" listings but 387 "software engineering" listings, both in August 2026, for very similar work.

So treat every count below as a dated snapshot, not a ranking. We also split "in demand" into two meanings. Volume means how many listings exist. Growth means where policy and recruiters say hiring is expanding. The first seven roles lead on volume. The last three are smaller today but are where national investment is pointed.

Roles with the most listings

1. IT support and systems administrators

Glassdoor showed 723 IT support listings in Qatar in July 2026, plus 75 system administrator listings in May 2026. These people keep offices, banks, hospitals, and hotels running by fixing devices, managing user accounts, and maintaining servers. Listings we saw commonly asked for a bachelor's degree or diploma in IT or computer science and about two years of support experience. In our reading, this is the most accessible entry point for career changers.

Qatar Living's July 2026 salary guide lists junior developer and IT support pay at QAR 8,000 to 14,000 a month, all-in. See the note on salary figures below.

2. Software developers and engineers

Glassdoor showed 199 software engineer listings in Qatar in August 2026. Developers build and maintain the apps, portals, and internal systems that banks, airlines, government bodies, and retailers depend on. The same Qatar Living guide lists mid-level software engineer pay at QAR 15,000 to 26,000 a month, all-in. Our guide to software developer jobs in Qatar covers the specialties and what listings ask for.

3. Data engineers and analysts

Glassdoor showed 244 data engineer listings in Qatar in March 2026. Listing text we saw asked for big data engineering, cloud data platforms (one preferred Azure), machine learning concepts, and data governance. Data analysts and engineers turn raw company data into reports and systems that managers can use. See our guide to data science jobs in Qatar for how the analyst, BI, engineer, and scientist roles differ.

4. IT managers and team leaders

Glassdoor showed 302 IT manager listings in Doha in January 2026. The top employers shown included hotel groups and engineering firms, so this count reflects IT leadership inside many industries, not only tech companies. Hays lists leadership roles among those in demand across the GCC. Qatar Living puts IT and tech manager pay at QAR 35,000 to 60,000 a month, all-in, the highest range in its guide.

5. Network engineers

Glassdoor showed 170 network engineer listings in Qatar in January 2026. Some were hands-on infrastructure jobs, such as installing and maintaining network equipment, servers, and security cameras. Others covered secure cloud and hybrid network design.

6. ERP and enterprise application specialists

Glassdoor showed 206 ERP listings and 156 SAP listings in Qatar in February 2026. These specialists set up and support the business systems that run finance, supply chains, and human resources. The work is less visible than app development, but large employers rely on it.

7. IT business analysts

Glassdoor showed 78 business analyst listings in Qatar in August 2026. Analysts sit between business teams and developers, gathering requirements and writing specifications. Many listings we saw asked for four to five years or more of experience, so this is usually a mid-career move.

The fastest-growing IT roles

8. Cloud and DevOps engineers

Glassdoor showed 50 cloud engineer listings in Doha in January 2026 and 25 AWS cloud engineer listings in July 2026. The counts are modest, but the local infrastructure keeps growing, as the Microsoft and Google cloud regions show. Listings we saw named Azure and Google Cloud, and senior roles asked for five or more years with Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD tools. Qatar Living lists DevOps and cloud engineer pay at QAR 20,000 to 35,000 a month, all-in. Our guide to cloud computing jobs in Qatar covers the roles, certifications, and local cloud regions in detail.

9. Cybersecurity specialists

Glassdoor showed 51 cybersecurity listings in Qatar in May 2026. Roles included security analysts, industrial control systems security engineers, and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) engineers, some needing seven or more years of experience. Qatar's 2022 cybersecurity framework incorporates the U.S. NIST 800 series guidelines, according to a 2022 U.S. Commerce Department report, so NIST knowledge is useful. Qatar Living lists cybersecurity specialist pay at QAR 22,000 to 40,000 a month, all-in. For roles, certifications, and career paths, see our guide to cybersecurity jobs in Qatar.

10. AI and machine learning engineers

Glassdoor showed 44 machine learning listings in Qatar in August 2026 and 112 AI listings in February 2026. Qatar Computing Research Institute, part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University, developed Fanar, an Arabic AI language model, per the same July 2026 report. Qatar Living lists data scientist and AI engineer pay at QAR 22,000 to 42,000 a month, all-in. Many of these roles are senior or research-focused, so expect strong competition. Our guide to AI jobs in Qatar covers the roles, employers, and how to prepare.

How to read the salary figures

The salary ranges above come from one source, Qatar Living's guide published July 24, 2026. It describes them as typical Doha market ranges based on current listings and recruiter feedback, and as guidance, not guarantees. They are monthly and all-in, meaning they include allowances. Your basic salary is lower, and basic salary is what your end-of-service gratuity is based on. Our guide to how gratuity is calculated explains the difference. We found no comparable published figures for network, ERP, or business analyst roles, so we do not give any.

Which role fits your background?

This section is our analysis, not a sourced finding.

  • Switching from a non-tech career: start with IT support or systems administration, then move toward cloud or security once you have some experience.
  • Already a developer: cloud, DevOps, or data engineering are natural next steps.
  • Business or finance background: business analyst and ERP roles use that knowledge directly.
  • Already in IT elsewhere: check the seniority in listings first, because many growth roles ask for five to seven years.

For a skills roadmap, see our guide to the IT skills in demand in Qatar. For the application process itself, see how to get an IT job in Qatar.

What to know before applying from abroad

Most work visas in Qatar are sponsored by the employer, so your job offer comes first. Our guide to finding a job in Qatar covers sponsorship and documents, and our overview of visa types explains the permits.

One Qatar-specific factor is Qatarization. Law No. 12 of 2024, published in October 2024, requires some private employers to hire only Qataris, or non-Qatari children of Qatari women, for certain jobs, according to law firm Crowell & Moring. It excludes companies fully or partly owned by QatarEnergy and firms in petroleum and petrochemical operations. If a listing looks restricted, ask the employer whether it is open to expatriates.

Real problems people run into

  • I have no Gulf experience. Hays reports skills gaps across the region, and our industries guide notes that tech is one of the more accessible sectors for international candidates. Lead with proven skills and projects instead.
  • Every listing asks for five or more years. Senior and growth roles often do. Volume roles such as IT support are the usual way in, then you can move up. If you are a new graduate, see our guide to IT jobs in Qatar for freshers.
  • I do not know which certification to get first. Match it to the role you want. Our skills guide lists certifications by skill area.
  • Salary offers look very different from the ranges. Ask whether the figure is basic or all-in, and how much of it is allowances.
  • I am not sure a job listing is real. See the scam checks in our guide to getting an IT job in Qatar.

Next steps

Pick two or three roles from the list, read five current listings for each, and note which skills repeat. Then build those skills and apply. The two guides linked above cover the skills and the process step by step.
