IT Jobs in Qatar for Freshers in 2026: What Employers Expect and How to Start
An honest guide for fresh graduates and career starters: how many entry-level IT jobs exist in Qatar, which roles to aim for, and how to stand out without experience.

If you are a fresh graduate or new to tech, you have probably seen ads saying "no experience needed." The real market is more mixed. This guide is only about starting out. It shows how many entry-level IT jobs we could find, which roles are realistic, which programs are open to you, and how to build proof when you have no work history. Every number is dated and linked.
This page does not repeat the general guides. For which roles are growing across tech, see the most in-demand IT jobs in Qatar. For the full application process and job boards, see how to get an IT job in Qatar.
What "fresher" means in Qatar listings
Job boards use the word loosely. On Bayt, pages such as IT jobs for freshers in Doha and fresher software engineer jobs collect listings that match those words. But a listing labeled fresher, junior, or graduate can still ask for experience. Read the requirements, not the label. In our reading, "fresher" usually means a new graduate or someone with up to about two years of experience, but employers do not use one standard.
How many entry-level IT jobs are there?
Fewer than the ads suggest. In June 2026, Glassdoor showed 14 "IT entry level" listings in Qatar, compared with 973 "IT" listings in the same month. Those searches use different words, so this is a rough illustration, not a percentage. Across all fields, it showed 72 "entry level" listings in July 2026.
Other boards show more, because they label listings differently. FoundIT Gulf showed 197 fresher IT jobs in Qatar on May 14, 2026, and NaukriGulf showed 8 graduate trainee vacancies in July 2026. We could not confirm how many of the "fresher" listings truly need no experience.
There is also competition. A Qatar Living guide for fresh graduates, published August 6, 2026, says entry-level roles attract hundreds of applicants and that CVs are often rejected when they are not tailored. Plan for a long search, and apply widely.
Realistic first roles
These are the roles most often open to newcomers. Each one links to a deeper guide where relevant.
IT support and help desk
This is the largest entry point by volume. Glassdoor showed 723 IT support listings in July 2026 and 16 IT help desk listings the same month. But listings we saw often asked for a bachelor's degree or diploma and about two years of support experience. That means internships, part-time IT work, or campus IT jobs count for a lot.
Junior software developer
Some employers hire graduates into trainee developer roles. One Glassdoor software listing we saw described trainee hiring for fresh graduates joining an engineering team, and a Junior Application and Development Officer listing described itself as suited to recent graduates or early-career professionals. Many other developer listings ask for three or more years. See our guide to software developer jobs in Qatar for the wider picture.
QA tester
Testing is a common way into software teams. Glassdoor showed 190 QA engineer listings in April 2026, though those include senior roles. Careful, detail-focused people do well here.
Junior data and reporting roles
Business intelligence and analyst roles can be an entry point if you have SQL and a dashboard project. Glassdoor showed 25 business intelligence analyst listings in February 2026. See our guide to data science jobs in Qatar. AI and machine learning roles are usually more senior or research-focused, so most freshers reach them through data or software roles first. Our guide to AI jobs in Qatar explains why.
Junior DevOps and cloud support
Bayt has a page for junior DevOps engineer jobs in Qatar, so entry-level roles exist there too. They are fewer, and most people reach them through support or sysadmin work first. Our guide to cloud computing jobs in Qatar explains the roles and certifications.
Security entry paths
Security roles usually ask for experience, so start with support, networking, or a security training program. See our guide to cybersecurity jobs in Qatar.
Programs for fresh graduates, and who can apply
This is where many freshers get confused. Several well-known graduate programs are not open to everyone.
- QatarEnergy's graduate program is for Qatari recent graduates, according to its graduates page.
- Qatar Airways' Graduate Development Programme is described as a one-year program for Qataris who have recently completed a bachelor's degree, per its programme page.
- The Qatar Computing Research Institute's Summer Internship Program is for undergraduate and graduate students at Education City universities and other institutions, with a second cohort for Qatar University students. The 2026 first cohort ran from May 10 to July 9, with tracks including software engineering and cybersecurity. Check the page for the next cycle.
- The National Cyber Security Agency runs a Graduate Cybersecurity Bootcamp and a fresh graduates camp, which had its 12th cohort in August 2026. Check its academy site for who is eligible.
- One Glassdoor listing we saw was a Mannai ICT summer internship in Doha, described as lasting one to six months.
If you are an expatriate applying from abroad, most of these programs will not apply to you, so your route is regular junior listings. If you are a student in Qatar, internships are a strong advantage.
Rules that affect who can apply
Under Law No. 12 of 2024, some private jobs may be reserved for Qatari nationals, as Crowell & Moring explains. If a listing looks restricted, ask before you invest time in an application.
Your visa and paperwork as a new graduate
You need a job offer first. Your employer sponsors your work visa and residence permit. The Qatar Living guide lists the employer-paid costs as a QAR 200 work entry visa, a QAR 500 residence permit conversion, a QAR 100 annual work permit fee, a medical exam of about QAR 100 to 150, and about QAR 100 for the Qatar ID and biometrics. It warns that an employer or agent who asks you to pay these fees is a red flag.
Your degree must be attested for the visa process, and starting early avoids delays. Our guide to getting an IT job in Qatar explains the attestation steps and how to spot fake offers. Once you arrive, our first week in Qatar checklist covers your next steps.
How to build proof without experience
This is our analysis. When you cannot show work history, show evidence instead.
- Projects: two or three finished projects with a clear write-up. See the portfolio advice in our guides to software developer and data science jobs.
- Certifications: entry-level exams such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, or Microsoft Azure Fundamentals. Check current exam lists, since vendors replace exams.
- Internships and part-time work: even a campus IT job or freelance site counts.
- A home lab: practice with networks, servers, or cloud accounts, and write down what you learned.
Our IT skills guide shows which skills to learn first.
Write a fresher CV that gets read
Qatar Living's separate CV guide for first-time job seekers recommends one strong page, and we agree. In our view, the top third should show your target role, your degree, and your best two projects. Use the wording of the listing where it is true. Put certifications and internships above general coursework. Then tailor it for each application, because untailored CVs are commonly rejected.
An application strategy that works for freshers
This is our analysis. Apply to many junior and support roles, not only your dream role. Use several channels at once, as our job search guide explains. Message alumni from your university who work in Qatar, and ask one specific question. Follow up once after a week. Expect video interviews before you travel, and practice explaining your projects in simple English.
Salary expectations
Qatar Living's July 2026 guide lists junior developer and IT support pay at QAR 8,000 to 14,000 a month, all-in, and calls it guidance, not a guarantee. Individual offers can differ, especially for a first job. Ask whether an offer is basic or all-in, because end of service gratuity is based on basic pay. Our guide on gratuity explains why.
Real problems people run into
- The ad said no experience, but the listing asks for two years. Read the requirements. Apply anyway if you meet most of them, and show projects and internships.
- I am not eligible for the graduate programs. Focus on regular junior listings, and look for internships if you are a student in Qatar.
- I hear nothing back. Tailor each CV, apply to more roles, and use referrals. Entry-level roles attract many applicants.
- Someone asked me to pay for a job. Do not pay. Employers cover visa costs, and our job search guide explains how to check an agency.
- I am not sure which role to start with. IT support and QA have the most openings, and you can move into development, cloud, or security later. See our guide to finding a job in Qatar for the general process.
Next steps
Pick one starting role, read five current listings, and note the skills that repeat. Build one finished project and earn one entry certification. Then start attestation for your degree, tailor your CV, and apply through several channels at once.
Frequently asked questions
Can freshers get IT jobs in Qatar?
Yes, but entry-level listings are a small share of the market and many ask for some experience. IT support, junior developer, and QA roles are the most realistic starts. Internships, projects, and certifications help.
What are the best IT jobs for freshers in Qatar?
IT support and help desk have the most openings, followed by junior developer, QA tester, and junior data or reporting roles. Security and cloud roles usually need experience, so people often reach them through support first.
Are Qatar's graduate programs open to foreigners?
Some are not. QatarEnergy's graduate program is for Qatari recent graduates, and Qatar Airways' Graduate Development Programme is described as for Qataris. Check each program's eligibility before applying.
Do I need experience for a fresher IT job in Qatar?
Often some. Listings labeled fresher or junior can still ask for experience, and IT support listings we saw commonly asked for about two years. Internships, projects, and part-time work count as proof.
How much do fresh IT graduates earn in Qatar?
Qatar Living's July 2026 guide lists junior developer and IT support pay at QAR 8,000 to 14,000 a month, all-in, as guidance. First-job offers can differ, so ask whether an offer is basic or all-in.
Do I have to pay to get a job in Qatar?
No. Employers cover visa and permit costs, and Qatar's Labour Law prohibits charging workers recruitment fees. Treat any request for payment as a scam warning.
