PHCC Dental Care in Qatar: Who Is Eligible, What It Covers and How to Get an Appointment
What PHCC dental clinics offer, who can use them, what needs a specialist center, how urgent problems are handled, how booking works through the Nar'aakom app or the 107 line, and when you are referred on.

"How do I book a dental appointment at PHCC?" is one of the most repeated health searches in Qatar, and the official dental page does not answer it. This guide puts together what the Primary Health Care Corporation says on its dental services page and its appointment page (both read on 27 October 2026), and a 2023 report in The Peninsula. We could not find fees, working hours or a list of centers on those pages, and we say so below. It is general information, not medical advice.
Who can use PHCC dental services?
PHCC says its dental services are open to all age groups, children, young people, adults and older adults, and that both Qatari and non-Qatari residents are eligible. A health card is the usual basis for care at PHCC centers. See renewing an expired health card and the healthcare system in Qatar for how it fits together. PHCC's own pages do not state the health card rule for dental visits, so confirm at your center.
What does PHCC dental care cover?
| Level | What PHCC lists | Where |
|---|---|---|
| General dental care | Examination and X-rays, diagnosis, simple extractions, fillings, gum treatment, root canal treatment of front teeth, emergency treatment of back teeth, children's dental care | All PHCC health centers |
| Specialized care | Oral surgery, advanced gum treatment, advanced root canal treatment, advanced children's dentistry, laser treatment | Only at specific health centers |
| Oral hygiene | Examination, scaling and polishing, fluoride, fissure sealants, diet and smoking cessation advice, oral hygiene instruction | By dental hygienists |
| Urgent dental care | Intense dental pain, swelling, tooth fractures | PHCC dental clinics |
PHCC reported in 2023 that it had 154 dental clinics in 31 health centers. Targeted programs include Beautiful Smile, for pregnant women and children under 12, and the Asnani school oral health program for kindergarten and primary students in public schools.
How do you book a PHCC dental appointment?
PHCC's appointment page says the Nar'aakom app lets you request a new appointment for yourself or your dependents from a list of clinics available for direct booking, reschedule an upcoming appointment and cancel one. The page also gives the 107 helpline for booking, reminders and complaints. A 2023 report in The Peninsula said dental appointments can be fixed or rescheduled through the app and the 107 line, but only at designated health centers. The dental page itself does not say whether care is by appointment or walk-in, so ask your center.
- Open Nar'aakom, check whether dental appears in the clinics open for direct booking and choose a time.
- If dental is not offered in the app for your center, call 107 or visit your health center.
- For a serious problem, go to a PHCC dental clinic and say it is urgent.
Older PHCC materials reported that app booking needs a Tawtheeq account, a QID valid for at least a year and a valid health card, for adults 18 or over, with children added to a parent's account. We could not confirm this on the current pages. See our guide to the Tawtheeq account.
When are you referred elsewhere?
PHCC says patients whose needs go beyond primary dental care can be directed to other Qatari government oral health providers, and PHCC can refer to and accept referrals from Hamad Medical Corporation facilities: Hamad Dental Center, Al Wakra Hospital, Al Khor Hospital, The Cuban Hospital and Sidra Hospital. A 2023 report said complicated cases, suspected oral cancer and patients who need artificial teeth are referred to Hamad Medical Corporation. Treatments such as dentures are therefore not simply done at the local center.
What if you want a private dentist?
Private clinics are an option, especially for cosmetic work or faster appointments. See our guide on how to choose, dental clinics in Qatar, and compare insurance cover first. For other health needs see pharmacies in Qatar.
Tips
- Have your QID and health card ready, and arrive a little early for a first visit.
- If you have a toothache with swelling or fever, treat it as urgent.
- Keep records of treatment and X-rays, which help if you are referred.
- If the Nar'aakom app will not let you book, see health center appointment problems.
What we could not verify
- Costs, which are not on PHCC's dental page.
- Working hours, a list of centers with dental or specialist care and any dental hotline separate from 107.
- Whether dental care is by appointment, walk-in or both at each center today.
- The current app eligibility rules.
